Rainbows

A few weeks ago I witnessed the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen in my entire life. Ever. It was complete and vibrant and... double. I could distinctly pick out each color in the rainbow... purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. I just sat in my car staring at the beauty which presented itself across the sky as I waited to meet some friends for dinner. It was as if the Heaven's couldn't possibly be screaming a louder message that there is beauty around me and inside of me. I remember sending a little prayer of thanks for the punch of color added to my day. Sometimes we just need a little reminder that things and that life itself can be just...that...awesome.
This past Saturday was one of those "punch of color" days for me. Don't you love those days? Our ward went to St. George to view the Joseph Smith movie and to attend a temple session. The company was great, the rendezvous out of town was necessary and the food was yummy. The spiritual boost came at just the right time. My Friday (the day before) was a down day that made Saturday all the more glorious. It reminds me of a movie line in the Batman movie that says "God brings us down so He can lift us higher." If we didn't have weeds we probably wouldn't realize the stunning beauty of the surrounding flowers. And so it goes with our lives. We all need a bummer day here and there in order to make good days all the better! Thank heavens we don't have to live a life portrayed in merely black and white. What a bummer that would be :o)
This topic makes one of my favorite primary songs come to mind: "I like to look for rainbows whenever there is rain and contemplate the beauty of an earth made clean again. I want my life to be as clean as earth right after rain. I want to be the best I can... and live with God again".
