Singles Palooza II

Here we go again... yet another Singles Palooza. Next weekend the single Gina's of Las Vegas are taking the show on the road to a San Fransisco Singles Conference. We're rather excited as we know that Silicon Valley is FULL of handsome successful men and was ranked #2 in the Nation for finding a man to date (that sounds promising!) Events include speed dating on trolleys, beach time (am I supposed to bring a wet suit because I REALLY don't feel like having a North Sea flashback), a fireside, a dance on yachts at night in the bay, and church. So... we've got the weekend planned out for us, and we already know some guys out there that we are meeting up with (and taking us to a baseball game Friday Night... wahoo!).
The comical part of the planned weekend was the posting of biographies for those speaking in church that Sunday. What in the world? Since when did we do this? I guess they just want us to be pumped for church enough that we actually go to sleep the night before? Who knows... I'm excited for Mr. FBI though. See biographies below:
Sacrament Meeting at Fort Mason's Herbst Pavilion
We've planned a very special Sacrament meeting to end the weekend with a spiritual boost. Speakers include President David Miller—a ranking FBI agent in Washington, D.C. and Marguerite and Dr. Russell Hancock—the beloved former Bishop of the Stanford University YSA Ward.
President David Miller is currently assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's headquarters in Washington, D.C. He is the highest-ranking member of the church currently working for the FBI. He has a distinguished 25+ year career with the bureau including a previous appointment in the San Francisco-area. President Miller currently serves as the second counselor in the Mount Vernon Stake Presidency (Washington, D.C.-area) where he oversees large YSA and MSA programs. His past church service includes being bishop of the Napa Stake YSA ward. President Miller and his wife currently reside in Virginia and are proud parents and grandparents.
Marguerite Gong Hancock is the associate director of the Stanford Project on Regions of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SPRIE), where she manages a variety of research projects, conferences, and publications as well as academic and government research partners in six Asian countries. She holds a BA degree in humanities and East Asian studies from Brigham Young University, a MA from Harvard in East Asian Studies, and pursued a PhD at Tufts’ Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy focused on high-tech development in China. She is the founder of the famed Christmas Crèche Exhibit (nativity scenes from around the world) in Menlo Park, the wife of Russell Hancock and the mother of their three children.
Dr. Russell Hancock is the President and CEO of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network, a group of government and business leaders tackling regional issues. Educated at Harvard in the field of government, he also holds a PhD in political science from Stanford University. He currently holds an appointment as a Lecturer in the Public Policy Program at Stanford University and was the inaugural director of the Shorenstein Forum for Asia-Pacific Studies. Brother Hancock served from 1981-1983 in the Japan Nagoya Mission. He served as the dynamic bishop of the Stanford YSA Ward until 2001, where he energetically encouraged its members to center their lives around the principles of Faith, Service, and Learning. Bishop Hancock is a concert pianist in his spare time and became a stage performer at the age of eight when he performed with the USO at army bases and hospitals during the Vietnam War. Since that time he toured throughout the U.S. and Japan. He now resides in Palo Alto with his wife, Marguerite Gong Hancock, and their three children.
