I'm Crazy: Part 2

The day after the ab-sailing fiasco we headed off to the beach, where I felt much more in my element. As you can see, it was the most picturesque day. The weather was nice and warm and there was a gentle breeze. The sand was as soft as silk between your toes. After spending 5 days traveling in either a plane or a compact car, my skin was itching to hit a large body of water. Little did I know that the water was straight from Antarctica! Brrrrr.... but I had something to prove and that was that I was adventurous and tough. The three guys we were with put on heavy duty wet suits and hit the water. The "me too" in me thought I didn't need a wet suit in order to swim. I changed/flashed Scotland in the car and headed off to the shore. The guys were way out in the water hitting some waves on the surf board. Karli and Lisa yelled "just take a running leap in or else you'll never get in!", so that's exactly what I did. The guys came over and started building up my hurt ego (from the night before) and my response was "oh it's not that bad". The only problem was that it was SO bad that I was literally gasping to breathe, let alone talk. I mouthed, "just give me a second until everything goes numb" through little gasps for air. That's when Steven said "seriously, whatever you lacked last night you are completely making up for right now". It only took about 5 minutes (after jumping up and down to keep from getting frost bite) for the numbness to hit, then it was all good. That's when the surfing lessons began. I had a good teacher who made sure my head stayed above water so that I didn't turn into an ice sculpture. We then ended the session with floating/chatting on the board for a while. I spent over 1 1/2 hours in that freezing water! I still can't believe my heart didn't give out or something. Oh the things we will do to bond with the opposite sex :o)
We then built a bonfire and roasted Kabobs on the beach. After that we played football (soccer) and then we sat around and chatted. I think it was my favorite day in Scotland. The beach we went to was called Lunan Bay (CLICK HERE for details). I hope to go back there someday soon. Good times.
