Here Kitty Kitty

This morning I woke up in a strange house... totally incoherent. I was getting ready for the day when I realized that I hadn't seen the two cats (see below for background story) since early the night before and people had been in and out of the house all night. Panic mode hit... the scouring began. I searched for 30 minutes in every crevice in the home. No cats anywhere to be found. Ah! As I started the search outside, I started prepping (in my head) the "I lost your 4-legged family members" speech for the owners. When I was looking in the bushes like a crazy person, I turned around to find the neighbor wanting to introduce himself to me. Ah! He'll probably have an eye peeled on the house for sure now! That's okay... I need all the help I can get. I lose things. I came inside and said another prayer...through tears. Then I thought to call Yvonne. Just as she got on the phone and heard my shaky voice, I looked up to find Hobbs on a chair over in the corner. Oh how wonderful is that feeling of pure relief. I cried out of happiness. I know cats can be hiders, but I've been watching them and I thought I knew all the places where they hid. I hadn't seen Oliver (other cat) before I left the house, so keep your fingers crossed that he surfaces. We're 2 for 3. Not good enough odds, people!
Malcom (black lab) has become my good friend. He follows me everywhere then plops down on the floor by me. Since I am in a strange house that behavior has brought me a lot of comfort. The only thing I would change about him would be his inability to comprehend me when I am saying "Malcolm, have you seen Hobbs? You have to help me look!!!" So sad, I know. I was desperate.
