Let There Be Light

I just love lanterns. I have always loved them. They remind me of so many wonderful things... warm summer nights, twinkly stars, old buildings in Jerusalem and the sweet whisper that says our own personal light can illuminate even the darkest crevice.
When I was in Jerusalem "back in the day" I visited a Holocaust Museum. Inside a gigantic mirrored room sat one single lit lantern. It had been positioned specifically so that it cast exactly 3 million reflections on the many, many mirrored walls. Each reflection of light represented a child who died in the Holocaust. I remember my young adult group of kids, all full of energy and endless chatter, who stood motionless in that room that day. We had already visited the rest of the Holocaust Museum and had many moving moments throughout. But there was something about that room that evoked a powerful reminder that each of our reflections of light are so precious. It was also a great reminder to what powerful source our flow of light comes from.
The last random fact :o) would be that I once wrote a little saying that sat next to a lantern in my room and went something like this "My life is a reflection of the light in my heart".
