December Roses

" Memories are the roses in the December's of our lives" - Neal A. Maxwell. One such rose for me happened this December... pretzel rod dipping. I have found that one of the great ways to show you care for someone (thanks to my mom) is to cook for them. Having inherited a tad-bit of the overachieving outlook on life that my mom has, I had the wild idea that I would make pretzels for everyone I knew to give during this season. Karli, Lori, Sara and Trish and I got together on the first weekend of December to dip! We made about 250 pretzels. Looking back at that experience now I just think I was crazy! We had a great time though... a memory I won't forget. We talked about guys, watched some of our favorite Christmas movies (i.e. the Grinch, White Christmas, Meet Me in St. Louis)... all while enjoying a little sugar rush! We packaged, sealed and tied the packages that were going to church with the following message attached: "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift". - 2 Corinthians 9:15. "Christmas means giving. The Father gave His Son, and the Son gave His life. Without giving there is no true Christmas, without sacrifice there is no true worship." - President Gorden B. Hinckley. I want to thank all the girls who helped make this wonderful Christmas memory... even as tired, overworked and worn out as you were. I smile every time I think of those endless nights of dipping. I am so lucky to have you in my life.
